Hi
I am a propspective new student to AGU,I am thinking of studying there.
I am in the final stages of my first year of the MD degree in a american colony, but wish to transfer to another country to suit my level of study comfort.
I am thinking of applying for september 2010,but with a credit for the first year of MD that I will hopefully have completed here in this country now.
Can anyone give me the A to Z on the university and other info of about how to apply and what is needed, the campus hours, possible areas to do the clinical part besides the US and canada. Also any other info you think will helf me in my desision.
Also can anyone tell when this university campus in curacao officially stated classes, and how many,if any students have finished their MD from AUg and are now succesfully practising medicine.
I have seen the website of the university in curacao, and it looks all excellent, infact it seem to good to be true,so are their any catches atached in studying their,if u are not a US or canadian citizen?
Thanks guys
feel free to email me directly if you think it will be better
Sorry to be a bother, thanks in advance.

Regarding the application process you would need to contact their admissions office. I was at the campus in 2008 and whatever the website states is true. They have a nice campus there but if you have any doubts, you should go and visit the school.

Hello,
My name is Abdul Saboor Khan and I am a current student here at AGU (MD01). I have been here since September, and I can tell you that the school is a good place. The dorms are kept clean and are relativey safe. The classes and office are located in the WTC which is like 5 minutes from the dorms. We are in Otrobanda, Curacao, NA.
We have classes from like 9-4 w/ an hour lunch break in between, a bus that takes u back and forth from the campus to the dorms, and have all utilities/ammenities provided. For a school that is still new compared to others, it's really a good setup, not to mention that it's one of the lowest tuition rates out there.
If you're definitely interested, then come down to the island and check out the school and then make a decision - you can send me a message for more info. Let the school admin people know and they pick you up and drop you off at the airport.
As for applying, just make sure you have all the documents listed on the website - it takes about 2-6 weeks for them to reply. Please also really pay attention to the immigration requirements, because there are some of us who didn't read all the info and are having small issues arrise (but nothing that can't be worked out).

Pretty much,
you need a year of bio and chem, physics, and a semester of calculus and English. These should be at a college/university level. If you are outside of the US, then they will ask you to show TOEFL scores as well.
MCATs are not a big necessity, but help your overall application.
Make sure to have two teacher recommendation letters and write a personal statement and essay. The best advice I can give you is to answer honestly as to why medicine matters to you and what you enjoy about it, why you want to practice, and what you wil do with it; you can tell stories about your past or relate jokes - essentially make it unique and catchy; don't sing the same tune as everyone else, "oh how i want to save the world as a doc." Creativity is the key.

Admission concerns
Hi Im new to the forums so give me a chance :S . I got a congressional nomination from U.S. Delegate Gregorio Sablan for the USMMA. Does that mean I have a really good chance of being admitted, or is it just another factor of the admission process?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
In terms of being accepted/admitted, as long as you meet the basic requirements listed above and also on the website, you shouldn't have problems being considered for admission.
As for your nomination for USMMA, congratulations! This will help your profile and help distinguish you from other applicants.
Best of luck with whatever you decide and wherever you choose to go.
